Who is Gnarls Barkley and why does he show up when you search for smileys on the net, well, truth be told, it's a hit song that reached number 10 in the UK charts.
"Smiley Faces" is a song by Gnarls Barkley and features on their debut album, St. Elsewhere. It was released 17 July 2006 as the second single from that album in the United Kingdom. Apparently rumour has it that recently, the single's music video is being tested on MTV, which might indicate that it will be re-released in the USA.
The music videio features a mockumentary showing Dennis Hopper as a music historian and Dean Stockwell as an A&R executive being interviewed about whether or not Gnarls Barkley (the singer) exists and ponder over whether Gnarls Barkley is behind the music scene. The video shows cultural events and musical acts from the 1920s to the 1990s, with producer Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo in the background. The effect is similar to that of Forest Gump which set the tone for such filming and editing
